Re: LispWorks 7.1.2 Personal Edition release

Hello folks,

The following sounds strange.

(ef:external-format-foreign-type :utf-16) => (UNSIGNED-BYTE 16)
(ef:external-format-type :utf-16) => CHARACTER

Why not BMP-CHAR?

Is there any way to get the following?

(ef:external-format-type '(WIN32:CODE-PAGE :ID 1251 :EOL-STYLE :CRLF) =>
BMP-CHAR

I use to store cyrillic in bmp-strings,
      pass them to Win32 API as of wchar_t
      and serialize them to a file while saving some space.

I see. The point is why ef:external-format-type does not return the
"smallest" character type suitable for representing all the characters of
Windows-1251 in Unicode.
