Mac OS Catalina

Hi

Apologies if this has already been discussed.

Does anybody have any wisdom to share about LWM and Catalina?

Thanks

I don't know how wise it is but LW works just fine for me, unless
"LWM" is something other than the Lispworks GUI that I don't know
about.

Both the gui and a console version that I built work just fine.

Yes.  LWM, LWW and LWL.

Thanks for the comments.  Turns out that I just need to change laptop and I am seriously thinking of ditching the Mac for a Windows machine.

All the best

Re: Mac OS Catalina

MacOSX is the worst O/S I’ve used (inconsistent and downright insulting and I/O that loses its mind regularly).

Windows caters to the same market (business USERs of computers).

As a developer, I like Linux the best. But then, you have to be your own O/S tech…

No free lunch.

RE: Mac OS Catalina

I hear you, Paul.

The problem is that it has been years since I had the time to properly administer a machine.

Re: Mac OS Catalina

LWM Pro 64-bit works just fine for me on macOS Catalina (10.15).
We build codesigned, sandboxed, hardened, notarized and stapled software distributed from our own site and also on Mac App Store (notarization and stapling n/a), and it all works fine.

Depends on what version of LWM you have - the 32-bit versions do not work (as Catalina removed the support for running 32-bit applications). I've asked Lispworks whether they have a solution for this, but I have not had any reply.

It may be possible to run Lispworks 32-bit from a virtual machine, but that's not really a great solution.

Re: Mac OS Catalina

LW has been offering 64-bit versions of all their products for quite a while, going back to at least LW5 in years 2007-2008. We run 64-bit LW5 Enterprise on Linux every day and it works fine, even better than the 32-bit version.

Marco, why don’t you take this opportunity to upgrade to 64-bit?

Re: Mac OS Catalina

I have been using the 64 bit Hobbyist Edition for about a year. Works great!
