What you describe looks like the shape that the pointer takes when a GC starts. And, I suppose, the purpose of the change is to signal that the system may be unresponsive as long as the cursor keeps that shape.

Sometimes in the LispWorks Editor, the mouse cursor changes to something like a large delta shape made of three arrows. Then, when I move the mouse, the cursor immediately reverts to normal.
I hope somebody can figure out what I am trying to describe. I know how to take screen shots in Windows. But I don’t know how to capture the mouse cursor.
I’m wondering if anyone knows why the cursor changes to the arrow-delta? In other words, what is the arrow-delta telling me?
