Getting error trying to open file on new install

I am moving over to a new computer and I’m getting an error when I try and open a .lisp file:

Anyone familiar with this?

Cheers,
JD

Re: Getting error trying to open file on new install

Yeah, it's a known issue with macOS Sierra. LispWorks issued some recent patches, you can grab them here:

Re: Getting error trying to open file on new install

And what about Personal Version? As I wrote before, we use it in our classes. It's hard to convince our students that use Mac that Lisp is good these days.

Re: Getting error trying to open file on new install

Hi Michal and others,

I had this same problem after updating to MacOSX Sierra - very frustrating.

Turns out the CURRENT download of Personal Edition 6.1.1 is DIFFERENT than it was
when I downloaded over a year ago!   Deleting old LWPE 6.1.1 and re-downloading
and re-installing fixed the crash problems.

I'm certainly glad that LW fixed the bugs / incompatibilities, but I think it's extremely
disappointing that they didn't change the minor update number to at least 6.1.2.

I had contacted LW tech support and this is what Martin Simmons had to say:

"We have updated the Personal Edition 6.1.1. to fix this, so please try
redownloading and installing.  It isn't a new release, so it is still labeled
as 6.1.1"

The least they could do is put this note on the web site, but I think it's quite
poor form to change a product (even a free one) without changing the "numbers"
or indicating that there had been a change -- what about 6.1.1a , at the least?

Hope this helps some of you that are running into this problem on MacOS.

Best,
--Glenn

Re: Getting error trying to open file on new install

Hello all,

at least the bug is corrected which is what is important. Many thanks for the good news.
