Lispworks MacOS Cocoa + NIL 0 error

I have several students with this problem on Lispworks Personal, MacOS.

Fresh install. Start Lispworks. File | New.  A dialog appears about an error in the Cocoa Event Loop, "In + of (NIL 0) arguments should be of type NUMBER.

Near the top of the backtrace

Call to SYSTEM::ARGS-TO-BINARY-ARITHMETIC-FN-NOT-OF-TYPE {offset 139}
  SYSTEM::FN-NAME : +
  SYSTEM::ARG1    : NIL
  SYSTEM::ARG2    : 0
  TYPE  {Closing} : NUMBER

Call to CAPI-INTERNALS:LAYOUT-DIVIDER-PERFORM-MOVE {offset 414}
  CAPI::SELF : #<CAPI-INTERNALS:COLUMN-LAYOUT-DIVIDER  229CE76B>
  CAPI::DX   : 0
  CAPI::DY   : 4.5
Any ideas?

Re: Lispworks MacOS Cocoa + NIL 0 error

Hi.

that's a bug with LispWorks and the new macOS 10.12. There is a patch for that from LispWorks support.

I've seen also another problem with the new macOS, which I have already reported.

Regards,

Rainer

Re: Lispworks MacOS Cocoa + NIL 0 error

I looked at the Patches page and it says they’re not available for the Personal Edition. I didn’t see anything that looked relevant in the FAQ when I searched for items with Mac OS. I can’t search old Lisp-HUG message because the gmane link is broken.

Is there a link to a patch for Personal?

Re: Lispworks MacOS Cocoa + NIL 0 error

I second this. We are using LW in our course of OOP (i.e. a non-commercial purpose) succesfully for many years. We, unfortunately, cannot afford any paid version or subscription. We are quite fine with LW Personal, but any workaround to this bug would be welcome.

Re: Lispworks MacOS Cocoa + NIL 0 error

Hello,

where can I find this patch? The newest patches in http://www.lispworks.com/downloads/patch-selection.html are from 2012. Specifically, I need a patch for LW Professional Mac 6.1.1 fixing the problem below and also problems with hard crashes after attempting to display some dialogs.

Thanks,

Michal
