Transparent images in menu-items

Hi,

When using images with transparency as menu items on Windows, they often renders strangely. A common problem is that the image first looks good, but when hovered, a white background is drawn on the menu item, sometimes in combination with a distorted image. This change stays until the menu is closed, even when the menu item is "unhovered".

Has anyone had better luck with menu item images on Windows?
