MIDI devices on Mac OS X

Hi
I have experienced problems when trying to list MIDI devices, entities  
and endpoints via FLI.
I have the second example of (http://developer.apple.com/library/mac/#qa/ 
qa1374/_index.html) somewhat working, but I would rather have the  
first example. I have a hard time taming FLI...
Does anyone have any code to share?
I am using LWM6.0.1 and have tried on Mac OS X 10.5 and 10.6.
