This is great news, thanks for the patches.

The section about the installer in the readme says this: "For 32-bit  
LispWorks, it will also update the LispWorks application bundle."

Does this mean that the steps for creating a new image are not  
necessary anymore?

It seems to me that I saw 5.0.1 in the title bar 
only after I made an new image. But I don't have 
paid much attention to this, as I had to make an image anyway.

...and if
(lisp-implementation-version)
returns 5.0.1, everything is well and all patches have been loaded?

No (and sorry - the doc could have been more explicit about this).

Specifically, the patch installer updates the CFBundleVersion in the
Info.plist file inside the application bundle. However it does not
touch the LispWorks image in the application bundle (or for that
matter the LispWorks with X11/Motif GUI image, which sits outside of
the application bundle, if you installed it).
