interface borders

I was wondering if anyone has suggestions for setting up platform 
compliant interfaces. Every time I create an interface I seem to spend 
a lot of time adding spacing elements to the layout in order to make it 
look right on both Mac and Windows. For example, on the Mac, dialog 
elements are supposed to be 12 pixels from top and 20 pixels from the 
other three sides. :internal-border would work great if I could specify 
each border separately, but it only allows a single value. And then 
CAPI adds more space on the bottom apparently for the Window resize 
handle.

Just wondering if there is something in the documentation I have missed 
which makes this easier to do.
