capi and remote listeners

Greetings. LispWorks 4.2.7 on Windows 2000. We have a small capi app that
offers as one of its services a listener connected to a remote Lisp image.
At present, this implementation consists of a listener-pane supplied with a
custom toplevel function that 1) reads from the listener-pane's stream; 2)
sends the form to a tcp stream connected to the remote image; 3) reads the
response from the remote image; and 4) writes the response to the
listener-pane's stream.

This all works nicely, except for the history keys. I cannot seem to get M-P
and M-N to activate the listener-pane's history mechanism. What must I do
here? Thanks much...
