Compiler Usage in Delivered Images
I have skimmed the delivery guide but I still have a question regarding the use of the compiler in delivered images. One of the strengths of Lisp in the area of application server software is the possibility of having a server running without interruption, but still have the option to connect to the image by means of a remote listener for maintenance and/or debugging, or to invoke a system build on an updated CVS tree, actually updating the application server while it is running. This is not possible in Java, let alone C - and is definitively a plus. I have an article describing such usages in detail: http://homepage.mac.com/svc/RebelWithACause Is this possible (and allowed by the license) in a delivered LispWorks image ? Are the compiler, debugger, listener (in TTY version) still available ? Are dynamic modifications to the CLOS runtime still possible, or are they optimized out ?
