Block transfer from streams?

Hi,

Does LW provides a function to do block transfer of data from streams in a way
that is more efficient than multiple calls to read-byte?  So, suppose that v
is a vector (buffer), something like :

(read-array stream v n) 

to read n bytes into the vector v from the stream.
