strange socket issue

I'm using LWM 4.3.6 on OS X 10.2.6. When running portable allegroserve 
I intermittently have an issue where the browser hangs waiting for the 
server to respond. If I click on any window (any location) in 
LispWorks, the server immediately responds and completes the request.

Any suggestions on where to look in tracking this down? I'm sure there 
is no code in allegroserve that is waiting for the user to click the 
mouse :).
