stdout for comm:servers?

I've written a simple tcp server using comm:start-up-server using 
LWW4.2.  In trying to debug the code, I used (format t ...) but I cannot 
find the output anywhere (not in the Listener, not in the Output Browser).

Can anyone give me a hint or explanation of how / where I could find the 
output, or how I might do printf-style debugging with a server process?
