It probably depends on the windows installation and cygwin version. Microsoft employ several hundred people whose task is to ensure that every instance of windows has significant differences from every other (not every release, every install). (This is what passport is all about BTW: by having a central registry of installs they can eliminate the possibility of any two systems behaving the same). I'm using 2000 SP2 with a recent security cluster. --tim
